Evaluation of in vitro energy distribution and methanogenic potential of two forages with the addition of condensed tannins

The objective of this work was to analyze the effect addition condensed tannins (CT) in efficiency digestion, methanogenic potential and energy distribution between fermentation products two forages. An assay carried out using vitro gas production technique which extracts Quebracho (Schinopsis balansae) Lotus corniculatus were evaluated with patterns derived from Ryegrass (RG, Lolium perenne) a tropical forage, Megathyrsus maximus (MM). MM presented higher delayed (GP), dry matter, organic matter fiber digestibilities (ivDMD, ivOMD NDFD, respectively) relatively high but lower than RG. In addition, CH4 (CH4p) RG 24 48h. Even though CT induced decrease contrary what expected, CH4p greater, although could not be attributed presence CT. stoichiometric evaluation indicated that while highest treatments associated acetogenic profiles, did show any relationship volatile fatty acids (VFA) profile, it total VFA GP.
